Chamomile Lavender Antioxidant Dream Milk
Lull yourself to sleep with this dreamy combination of relaxing chamomile and lavender and antioxidant-rich black sesame seeds in soothing warm coconut milk. I like black sesame butter (tahini) as an alternative to the usual tahini because black sesame seeds have extra antioxidants and a more potent sesame flavor compared to white sesame seeds. Cinnamon not only adds a sweet flavor but also regulates blood sugar, making this drink the perfect nightcap after a busy day. Though any type of cinnamon can be used, I prefer Ceylon; this “true” cinnamon has a sweeter, milder flavor and is lower in coumarin than traditional cassia cinnamon, which may be harmful in larger, more regular doses
Ingredients
2 bags chamomile lavender tea (see Tips)
1 cup hot water
½ cup full-fat, unsweetened canned coconut milk
1 tablespoon black sesame seeds or black sesame butter
¼ teaspoon honey
Pinch of fine sea salt
3 shakes of ground cinnamon
Directions
Steep the tea bags in the hot water for 10 minutes, covering the tea to keep it warm.
Meanwhile, warm the coconut milk in the microwave for 30 to 60 seconds on high or in a small saucepan on the stovetop over medium heat.
Put the steeped tea, warmed coconut milk, sesame seeds, honey, salt, and cinnamon in a blender and blend for about 20 seconds, until smooth and frothy. Pour into a 16-ounce cup to serve.
