Spiced Hibiscus Mocktail
Oh, what a treat for the warmer weather!
This is a great alternative to alcohol in the summer months. And, guess what, hibiscus tea is good for you!
The Secret is Spice
The secret to making a mocktail is getting some spice into the brew, since that’s generally what we like about mixed drinks - there’s that little kick of something! The peppercorns and cinnamon in this drink jazz it up!
Hibiscus = De-Bloat
Hibiscus tea has a refreshing citrus taste, gorgeous pink color, and is great for de-bloating the body.
Hibiscus is a natural diuretic, so if you’re retaining a little water from too much indulgence, then this could be your new best friend! Hibiscus tea can also be helpful to people with chronic edema/swelling or high blood pressure…but, remember, hydration with plain water is always the best way to go. I like to alternate between cups of tea and water to keep my body well hydrated.
Ingredients
2 L hot water
6 bags Traditional Medicinal hibiscus tea bags, strings & tags removed
1 T black peppercorns
2 stick Ceylon cinnamon (better) or 1 T ground cinnamon
2 large sprigs rosemary (and more for serving)
Directions
Place ingredients in large glass carafe on countertop. After cooling, place in refrigerator overnight. Strain and serve over ice. Finish with a small sprig of rosemary in each drink.
Enjoy!
